Our startup “Fizzzest Beverages” consists of a team of 4 people. Currently we are all part of the life science program at the “Technical University of applied Sciences Ostwestfalen-Lippe”. One member of the team has his specification in biotechnology while the rest of us is studying beverage technology. More than a year ago we started the project. Our main goal was to create a beverage whose main ingredient is usually discarded. The most obvious thing for us was to upcycle the peels of the citrus fruits that are used to produce juices, lemonades and other existing beverages.
Through a special process, the skins are turned into a drink with a bitter-sweet taste profile and a fruit content made of 100% peels.
